Book Club

Journey's End

Ed Haussler passed away on November 14th at 7:10 pm just as the fog cleared over the skies of Half Moon Bay revealing one the brightest full moons in 82 years guiding his way home. We will all miss his zest for life, his humor, his salty and uncensored conversation without it being offensive. Ed was one of a kind.

Our 2017 Delegate to the UN Pilgrimage for Youth

On Thursday November 3, a group of members met to select our new 2017 delegate to the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs UN Pilgrimage for Youth. We had the pleasure of meeting our single applicant, Jacqueline Martinez, a junior at Pescadero High School. Jacqueline read her essay, titled "Blank Years," about why she wanted to participate in this program, followed by interview questions from the Selection Team.

2017 United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth Program

UN buildingOcean View Lodge #143 is proud to announce the open recruitment period for applicants to be chosen as our Lodge’s delegate to the current session of the UN Pilgrimage. The UN Pilgrimage is a two week all-expense-paid tour in July of historical sites back east in Philadelphia or Ottawa, Canada which includes a week long stay in the world renowned city of New York. Here delegates mingle with 150 or more students from across the United States and several countries of the world, exchanging views on global issues. Students will tour the United Nations building and meet with staff and UN officials. All delegates will also be given a topic that they will analyze in a 5 minute speech to be presented in a competition. Monetary prizes will be given for those judged the best.

Half Moon Bay Odd Fellows are enthusiastic supporters of the Industrial Arts Program at Half Moon Bay High School. IA Program participants are now creating a new gateway and arch for the Odd Fellows Cemetery on Highway 92.
